‘No Oil Painting’ 2023 - 2025
I explore the interplay of materials, art, and value, with a focus on beauty. Using original, (ugly?) flower paintings sourced from my travels and collection of vintage finds. I repaint and redact the floral arrangements with black gloss paint. The collection features forgotten Sunday paintings by unknown artists, often dismissed as worthless. Repurposing
these oils challenges conventional notions of beauty and value, while subtly collaborating with the forgotten artists
by leaving glimpses of the original work and their signatures.
